HELP LAUNCH THE  FIRST LETS GO TEEN SCIENCE CAFE IN BALTIMORE!

LETS GO partners with YouthWorks Summer Jobs Program, managed by the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) to hire passionate young people interested in STEM and Leadership!

The LETS GO Teen Science Café (TSC) Leadership Program is a 5-week initiative engaging high school students in STEM and leadership activities. Teen Science Cafés create a space where teens, adult leaders and STEM experts collaborate on presentations and hands-on activities. All Cafés are designed and led by teens to expose their peers to relevant science topics. The goal is to launch the 1st youth-led Café in Baltimore at the end of summer, kicking off monthly Cafés.

During the summer Teens will plan and implement all aspects of the TSC, fostering teamwork, leadership, and communication skills, while gaining experience in financial planning, decision-making, and public relations. Guided by adult mentors, youth are organized into teams responsible for all aspects of the Café, including programming, outreach, logistics, and event coordination.

In addition to planning the Teen Science Cafe Event youth will take advanced STEM courses such as forensic science, 3D printing, robotics/coding, and attend workshops on financial literacy and college/career readiness. College/industry tours will provide invaluable exposure, featuring guest speakers from institutions like JHU-Space Telescope Science Institute, Constellation, local STEM companies & Universities.

This immersive experience helps youth gain a deeper appreciation for STEM and see themselves as “belonging in STEM”.

Important Dates:
